Self Hypnosis To hypnotize yourself, is it possible?? Yes, definitely, thought it can sound complicated or not possible to the one that never tried. And.. dare I? What if I get stuck in some peculiar condition? Easy now.. keep calm :-) -it will not happen! As a matter of fact, all hypnosis is really self hypnosis. Even if it is a therapist that talks and lead you, it is you who accomplish the hypnotic condition. A person that have been leaded by a live therapist or a CD/tape can do it themselves by just using their own mind. Read more about hypnosis below... About Hypnosis What is Hypnosis? A well formulated definition of hypnosis is: "A state of concurrent relaxation and concentration with an increased consciousness evoked from suggestions" Your concentration is in focus - inwards (thoughts, inner ideas or pictures, or both); or - outwards (a task, a book a movie and so on). Focus get so narrow that other stimuli in the environment is ignored or temporarily barred from your consciousness. Example of everyday states of trance is daydreaming, crosswords, absorption when reading a book, watching a movie etc. Some forms of meditation can be considered also. As matter of fact, hypnosis is completely normal, non magical and with predictable consequences. It's completely out of the question that a person can be a mastered, manipulated or be put in trance against his/her will. Is Hypnosis sleeping? A hypnotized person does not sleep, on the contrary she can be more aware of what is happening in the surrounding) world than in a normal state of mind, for the senses usually works better. But - and this is the important thing - as long as everything is normal and like every day around her, she don't care about the surrounding world, she simply do not have the energy to care. No, trance is not sleep, if if some people get so relaxed they might fall asleep. This is no problem though, because some parts of the consciousness keeps listening to the therapists voice. Even in state of trance a sleeping client can follow instructions like moving a finger, take deep breath or wake up when they are told to. |
